Smoking Tidbit

As I study and write my next book I found this interesting tidbit:
Before the 20th century, missionaries and other people going to the south sea islands were often killed and eaten by cannibals. These cannibals, however, would never eat the flesh of a man who smoked because they would become violently ill; much like how a young boy becomes ill after smoking his dads cigar or cigarette.

This is the only instance I can think of where smoking might help you. You still would get killed but not eaten!
